Just a quick update this morning. This morning the 95L.Invest wave has turned into
tropical depression 17, which could be a threat to the east coast in 7-10 days. More urgent than that is the Puerto Rico wave which I discussed on Thursday. This wave is now
96L.Invest and the
06z GFDL model has this becoming a Category 5 Hurricane and heading across the Florida Keys and into the Gulf of Mexico in 120 hours. The last few runs have this storm potentially turning NW once it gets into the Gulf towards the LA to Florida coastline. The tropics are more active than they have been in quite a while as the equatorial convergence zone is exploding with activity. I'll update again this evening.
