July 3rd Chase Photography

Today brought the first chance to chase in over a week here in Central North Carolina. The temperature reached 96 degrees with a heat index of 101. The afternoon heat was miserable, but helped induce some severe storms in the evening hours. I was joined on this chase by "Big Daddy". We started by moving north to the Orange County border, but ended up turning around and heading west into Efland, NC where the storm went severe around 7:15pm EST. Some hail and wind damage ended up being reported in Efland, NC by the Storm Prediction Center. Here is my photo album for this chase. Video will be up tomorrow. Thursday looks like an excellent chase day with the SPC already putting us under a slight risk for severe storms in the early afternoon hours.
