60 and counting...

The average number of tornado's in November is 28, there have been 60 so far in 2005. What a scary day it must have been in the KY, TN, IN area yesterday. Tornado sirens were reported to be wailing for most of the afternoon as funnel clouds were spotted all over this region. Bloomington, IN had to sound the campus sirens and send students running for building basements as a funnel cloud was spotted. In all there were reports of over 35 tornados yesterday, with 2 dead and 22 injured. The same cold front is moving into central NC today. We aren't expecting the same type of severe weather here, but we could get some strong straight line winds and downburst after 2pm EST. I have my camera loaded and ready to head out later today. It is 75 and sunny here right now, with some pretty strong gusts up to 25mph. Below is a summary map of the severe storm reports from yesterday.
